Georges Sakr: An Introduction

PhD Candidate in Linguistics and English Language
University of Edinburgh

I am currently in the process of obtaining a PhD in Linguistics and English Language at the University of Edinburgh. I am also Director of Training at the Champville Model United Nations training program, which I helped establish in 2011.

My research interests are in the fields of phonetics and phonology, and I have also touched on topics in sociophonetics in my previous work. I am currently working on documenting the phonology of Central Mount Lebanon Lebanese.

I did my undergraduate studies in English Language at the American University of Beirut, and an MSc in Linguistics, then an MScR in Linguistics and English Language, at the University of Edinburgh.

I am passionate about languages, cultures, the arts, history, and the interaction between peoples; and my hobbies include programming, web design, photography, screenwriting, and watching beautifully shot and directed television series.
